As a conservation consultant serving South Australia and Western Australia, Threadgold Architecture aims to balance the needs of property owners, conservation standards and a sound understanding of the legislative environment. Recognised for its leadership in conservation architecture, Threadgold Architecture was engaged by the client Grand Mecure as the preferred conservation consultant for architectural services on the State Heritage listed and National Trust Registered, Basildene Manor which is sited in the heart of the celebrated Margaret River wine region. The alterations and additions to the Grand Mecure hotel site required the conservation consultant to obtain the Heritage Council approval, Shire of Augusta-Margaret River development approval, demolition permit and building permit.
The decisions regarding heritage conservation of the Basildene Manor site by the conservation consultant were based on an understanding of the key attributes that contribute to the heritage value of the site informed by the principles of The Burra Charter. The conservation consultant provided well-considered and practical heritage advice to achieve the desired client outcomes at Basildene Manor; liaising with both the State Heritage Office and the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River through the building procurement process.
The conservation consultant delivered a detailed building fabric condition assessment of the existing built fabric, Heritage Impact Statement and documentation of the conservation works required by the Grand Mecure to accommodate Basildene Manor’s high occupancy rates.
